DOORS Test Input Adapter - traceability between Rational testing and DOORS requirements |
Simpler Installation, Configuration, and Operation
Single installer. Simple applets for configuring DOORS communication and Test Manager data sources. Simplified, improved user interface.
Improved Scaleability
DOORS Adapter no longer relies upon its former "DOORS Launcher" component, and now launches DOORS on demand.
More Robust
With its new architecture, the bridge is now capable of handling DOORS modules of any size.
The preferences applet allows users to configure how Doors Adapter will interact with DOORS, including support for specification of a particular DOORS installation or database. Settings are stored per individual user. The configuration applet allows administrators to configure Doors Adapter within one or more Test Manager datastores. This applet is no longer called by the uninstaller, eliminating previous confusion when installing Doors Adapter updates.
Faster
Retrieving the DOORS database hierarchy and requirements under the old architecture was sometimes slow due to workarounds necessary to attempt to overcome DOORS limitations and quirks. Retrieval is now done in one single, optimized pass and is significantly faster - especially noticeable with large datasets.
Improved Functionality
Improvements have been made in the areas of data source configuration, requirements property display (which now includes requirement history, clickable links to linked requirements, and display of OLE objects - screenshots, Word documents, etc. - which have been embedded in requirement text), and communicating requirement-testcase associations back to DOORS.
More Efficient License Usage
Because the Doors Launcher component has been eliminated, DOORS Test Input Adapter no longer requires you to tie up a DOORS license waiting for connections from Test Manager.
Supports DOORS 6, 7, and 8 DOORS Adapter 2.0 has been implemented using Unicode, which provides intrinsic support for DOORS 8's latest features. Although Test Manager does not support display of the Unicode character set, DOORS Adapter now supports display when users view requirement properties from within Test Manager.
