Test Adapter for QuickTest Pro is an add-on for IBM Rational ClearQuest Test Manager (CQTM), Rational Software Architect (RSA), and Rational Functional Tester (RFT) which provides a seamless bridge between IBM Rational software tools and processes and Mercury Interactive QuickTest Pro. This integration has been validated by IBM as Ready for IBM Rational software.

This integration enables Rational users to do the following within the Rational environment:

• Select tests using a simple wizard which works just like Mercury's
• Execute tests
• View test results
• Import existing test results
• Link test results to IBM Rational ClearQuest defects and RequisitePro requirements
• Link tests and results to Telelogic DOORS requirements using ClearTrace for DOORS

The most common usage scenarios for this add-on are:

» Avoiding the cost and complexities of using Mercury TestDirector and QualityCenter, with its synchronization-based integrations with IBM Rational tools, by leveraging familiar ClearQuest-based Test Management.

» Testing departments with mixed vendor toolsets due to the simple fact that some tools work better than others under certain environments or against particular applications under test.

» Current QuickTest users who need to tie into the rest of Rational's toolset or Rational Unified Process.

» Testers transitioning from QuickTest to Rational functional testing tools.  Testers are often encouraged to create new tests using Rational tools, but need to maintain the ability to leverage past work and maintain the ability to execute QuickTest tests.

» Rational users considering using QuickTest to implement new tests, but only if QuickTest can be integrated with their existing Rational tools and processes.
