Test Execution Adapter for QuickTest Pro is an add-on for IBM Rational Test Manager which bridges IBM Rational software tools and processes with Mercury Interactive QuickTest Pro.

Test Manager users can select QuickTest test scripts and suites as automated implementation for test cases which have been created in Test Manager.  When these test cases are executed, results are automatically stored in Test Manager, which in turn makes them available to other IBM Rational tools such as ClearQuest and RequisitePro.

The most common usage scenarios for this add-on are:

• Testing departments have mixed vendor toolsets due to the simple fact that some tools work better than others under certain environments or against particular applications under test.
• Current QuickTest users who need to utilize Test Manager to tie into the rest of Rational's toolset or Rational Unified Process , but cannot afford the time and risks of re-implementing QuickTest test behavior using Rational functional testing tools.
• Testers transitioning from QuickTest to Rational functional testing tools.  Testers are often encouraged to create new tests using Rational tools, but need to maintain the ability to leverage past work and maintain the ability to execute QuickTest tests.
• Test Manager users considering using QuickTest to implement new tests, but only if QuickTest results can be tied to the rest of their Rational tools.
